Booking your course

Our booking process is very quick and easy. Just complete our online booking form with as many details as possible (particularly regarding the accommodation requirements and any dietary needs).

Upon receiving your booking form, one of our team will process your enrolment and send you the invoice and confirmation letter.

As soon as you receive the invoice please pay the £110 deposit (£65 if no accommodation is booked) via our online secure payment platform Flywire. You will have to create an account and put your student number (which is clearly highlighted on the invoice). You will then receive a notification email once the payment was successful, followed by another confirmation email once the school has received your payment.

Before you arrive

We will send you the course details together with your accommodation and transfer information (if booked) before you arrive so you have all the details you need. In your course confirmation there will be a direct link to your student handbook – please make sure to read it as it is full of useful information and will probably answer most of your questions.

Should you have any other questions please contact us and we will gladly help you!

On arrival

All our students are met by their homestay host upon arrival in Torquay at the bus station or train station, so it’s very important that we receive arrival times well in advance. In case you booked a private car transfer then your driver will drive you straight to your accommodation. If you have booked our apartments or hotel, please rest assured that we will arrange for our hotel managers to meet you, give you the keys and help you settle in.

How to find us

We are on St. Marychurch Road, near the town Centre – 150 metres up the hill from Castle Circus. We are on the right-hand-side of the road just before the Oriental Touch Restaurant – or on the left-hand side just after the Oriental Touch Restaurant if you are coming down the hill. Your hosts will help you with directions and details of buses.

Your first day

Your course will begin at 08:40 on your first Monday. Please try to arrive at the school by 08:35. On arrival, you will be given a folder which includes: your personal programme, pen, paper and a student card. Please bring your passport or identity card with you on your first day.

At 0900 we will start our induction presentation. If you completed our online test, then you will go straight to your class. For students that did not complete the online test, they will be asked to take an English test fort to assess their level.

We invite all students on a town tour followed by welcome drink s at the school – this is an excellent opportunity to meet your new fellow students and socialise.

Your accommodation and course

We are very proud of our courses and the accommodation we offer. In your second day, we will ask you to fill in a questionnaire in order to assess how satisfied and comfortable you are with your course and in your accommodation. If you ever have any issues at all, please let your teacher know or come and speak to us at reception.

Your free time

We run an extensive social programme with activities every afternoon and two full day trips at the weekend. Our social programme offers a great opportunity to meet new friends whilst exploring the exquisite Devon and Cornwall area.

You can view the social activities four weeks in advance at the following link: link of the social programme

Certificate and further study

After you receive your certificate at the end of your course, our Director of Studies will happily guide and advise you which course you could take next if you want to keep improving your English.

We also provide guidance on further study via our ‘Extended Learning with TIS’ page.

After you leave

If you haven’t already done so then make sure you follow our main page on Facebook and Instagram. Here we can keep you updated about all the latest news from the schools. We always love to hear from former students and find out how they’re getting on so feel free to contact us and let us know what you’re up to and how you are using your English language skills.
